Fr. Simon Conrad celebrated his 90th birthday with a party at St. Fidelis Friary, Victoria, Kansas, Feb. 11. Frs. Charles Polifka and Peter Meis from Denver joined the friars from Victoria and Hays, several diocesan priests (Dan Sheetz, Kerry Ninemeier, Al Werth), the staff of the Capuchin Center for the Spiritual Life and their spouses, and affiliates Ethel and John Younger in honoring Simon's 90 years. Br. Joseph McGlynn prepared Simon's favorite meal,Ethel prepared snacks for the social, and Sacristan Katie Scheck and Housekeeper Becky Scheck both baked cakes. It was a fun time for all. Simon read a "Happy Birthday" poem from Dr. Seuss in his remarks. Fr. Canice Froehlich, the province's other nonagenarian, was remembered for celebrating on the same day his 64th anniversary of ordination.
