Fifth graders from Annunciation Catholic School created an illustrated children’s book on the life of Julia Greeley. The book was later presented to Denver Archbishop Samuel Aquila (above photo). The Julia Greeley Guild is hopeful that the book may one day be published.
The St. Conrad Province held their Chapter from April 22-26 at St. Fidelis Friary in Victoria, Kansas. Br. Mark Schenk was elected Provincial Minister; Fr. Bill Kraus was elected Vicar Provincial and the councilors include: Fr. Frank Grinko, Fr. Sojan Parappilly and Fr. Curtis Carlson.
Newly elected Provincial, Br. Mark Schenk, led a “Walking in the Footsteps of St. Francis” pilgrimage from May 19-29, visiting Assisi and other Franciscan sites. The pilgrimage was auctioned off at last year’s Brown Robe Benefit.
On May 18, Fr. John Lager celebrated his 40th anniversary of ordination at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Later this summer, he will be present at the Marked Men for Christ World Conference (Aug. 15-18) in Denver.
Brothers Donald Rank and Brandon Berg recently completed their seminary internship programs. Br. Donald spent a year working at Our Lady of the Angels Parish in San Antonio while Br. Brandon was at Holy Family Parish in Denver.
Congratulations to Fr. Sojan Parappilly who graduated with a Masters of Science in Marketing from Denver University on June 14.
Br. Jason Moore is spending the summer in St. Louis as cook for the Inter-Provincial Postulancy Program. He will move to Denver in August to begin his internship year working alongside Deacon Hal Goldwire (Vocation Coordinator) in prison ministry.
Fr. Joseph Mary Elder led 18 youth from Annunciation Parish in Denver on their 9th annual mission trip to Gallup, NM from July 5-14. The youth work alongside the Missionaries of Charity in serving the Navajo population.
Six new men were accepted into the postulancy program for the upcoming formation year. The men range in age from 19 - 26. They are scheduled to arrive at Solanus Casey Friary in Colorado Springs on July 14.
On July 28, Fr. Earl Befort will celebrate his Golden Jubilee at the Basilica of St. Fidelis in Victoria Kansas. Fr. Earl serves parishes in Catherine, Shoenchin and Antonino and is president of the Thomas More Prep-Marian Alumni Association.
