Invoking the blessing of Almighty God upon the newly remodeled building, friars, affiliates, benefactors, and friends participated in a ceremony led by Mid-America Provincial Fr. Mike Scully. Holy water raining gently upon the new walls and solemn incense smoke wafting along the ceiling, Fr. Blaine Burkey remarked that it was hopefully the last time the archives would see either smoke or water!
In the presence of the Grinko family, Fr. Mike thanked their late mother, Emma, whose generosity coupled with that of all our benefactors helped to make the archives a reality.
After months of planning and construction, the future house of the Province's historical treasures is nearly complete. Fr. Blaine Burkey, who is anxiously awaiting the architect's go-ahead, will be in charge of the archives and will be directly responsible for organizing the vast amount of history which has been collected over the years. Please keep the success of our new archives in your prayers!
